Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor is America’s busiest passenger railroad and among its most vibrant and bustling. Across the Corridor, Amtrak carries more than 10 million passengers each year, the Corridor hosts America’s fastest train -- the Acela – and it is home to Amtrak’s three busiest passenger stations (New York Penn, Philadelphia 30th Street and Washington Union Station). The Northeast Corridor, too, is home to a variety of America’s busiest and most captivating commuter railroads as well as CSX and Norfolk Southern freight operations!

Train Simulator Classic offers three popular routes devoted to key sections of the NEC: New York – Philadelphia; New York – New Haven; and Washington, D. C. – Baltimore. In addition to round-the-clock Amtrak intercity action, each of these NEC route segments are also host to notable commuter rail operations (NJ TRANSIT, Metro-North, and MARC, respectively). Along with Train Simulator Classic’s three NEC routes, two popular routes featuring NJ TRANSIT operations – the North Jersey Coast Line and North Jersey Coast & Morristown Lines routes – include the Northeast Corridor between Manhattan and Rahway, New Jersey.

Each of the Train Simulator Classic NEC routes include a range of locomotives and passenger equipment to climb aboard and in addition to the included stock, you can fill out your Amtrak and commuter rail rosters with a wealth of Amtrak, Metro-North, and NJ TRANSIT DLC options.

In modern terms, Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor extends from Washington, D.C., northeast 457 route miles via Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New York City to Boston. In an older time, and by tradition, “the Corridor” was most often equated to the Pennsylvania Railroad’s great 1920’s-1930’s electrification – a project that electrified 244 route miles of PRR mainline. North and east of New York, today’s NEC was the property of the renowned New Haven Railroad. And with Train Simulator Classic DLC, you can even put vintage PRR and NYNH&H equipment to work!

Arguably no single location on the Northeast Corridor is more dramatic than Hell Gate Bridge across New York’s East River. On the Train Simulator Classic NEC: New York-New Haven route, an Amtrak Siemens ACS-64 overtakes a CSX EMD SD-40-2 powered freight. The route includes both the flashy ACS-64 and CSX freight equipment.

Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor is home to multiple commuter carriers, including – north of New York City – Metro-North. On the Train Simulator Classic NEC: New York-New Haven route, a set of modern Metro-North Kawasaki M8 EMUs cross the Norwalk River (above), while a venerable set of Budd/GE M4 EMUs clatter through Shell Junction at New Rochelle (above). The MNCR M2, M4, and M8 are all available as DLC.

The most recent route addition to the Train Simulator Classic NEC catalog collection is the Washington DC - Baltimore route. Just outside Washington’s magnificent Union Station, outbound and inbound Acela trains meet. The route includes a wealth of equipment, including the Acela, ACS-64, Amfleet rolling stock, MPI MP36PH-3C, and Bombardier Multi-Level commuter cars.

On the Train Simulator Classic Washington DC - Baltimore route, an ACS-64 powered Northeast Regional train is approaching Baltimore Penn Station (above), while a commuter MP36PH-3C is leading Bombardier Multi-Level cars as it makes its stop at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport Station (below).

Train Simulator Classic’s North Jersey Coast Line and North Jersey Coast & Morristown Lines routes feature exhilarating NJ TRANSIT equipment and operations and include the section of the NEC from Manhattan to Rahway, New Jersey. The Train Simulator classic catalog collection also includes a variety of NJT equipment, such as the long-serving Jersey Arrow III EMUs.

With Train Simulator Classic DLC, you can climb aboard vintage locomotives to operate on sections of the Northeast Corridor, including the fabled Pennsylvania Railroad GG1 electric (above), and its successor, the General Electric E60, the latter of which is available in Amtrak and NJ TRANSIT liveries (below).
